Weight Management Consult – Dog or Cat

Obesity is now considered the number one health and welfare risk of our pets with 61% of cats and 59% of our dogs overweight or obese. This is a challenging disease, in that there are a number of factors involved: 1) weight management dropout rates exceed successes, 2) owners are uninformed on recognizing weight gain much less being aware of the increased health risks, 3) many pet foods set your cat or dog up for weight gain, and 4) why it’s not just calories in versus calories out. This weight management consult offers you a better understanding and strategies for helping your pet lose weight or maintain a lean body condition. In this consult we’ll discuss strategies, challenges, and foods and therapies that help with weight management. A Weight Management Recipe for a home-prepared diet can be added.

In this consultation we’ll discuss:

• A complete nutritional history on brands, quantity, meal frequency, with strict attention to calculating nutritional and RER/DER needs;
• A written Weight Management Menu/Plan providing diet and caloric restrictions;
• 2 months of  biweekly check-ins, to help you manage and/or adjust strategies of the Program.
• An individualized recipe is not included in this session, but will be offered at a reduced rate if requested within the month follow-up support period.
